Abdullah’s Birthday Wish
United States
Dear Friends of Abdullah and his mother, Heba,
We are deeply moved to share that, after much effort and perseverance, we were able to send nearly $1,500 to Heba. Although the money changers took a steep 25% fee(!!), Heba was still overwhelmed by your generosity. Your support has made an incredible difference in their lives.
As you know, food and basic necessities remain scarce and prohibitively expensive in Gaza. Despite these challenges, Heba’s husband was able to purchase a number of essential items: two packages of real shampoo, laundry detergent, dish soap, eight bars of hand soap, toothpaste, toilet paper (which Heba hasn’t seen in six months!), and personal care items like deodorant, a loofah, cotton swabs, band-aids, and earplugs. They also managed to buy a hoodie, warm pants, and a heavy blanket for Abdullah, who will be able to stay warmer this winter.
These items, which many of us might take for granted, are true luxuries in Gaza—things most people have been without for over a year. Heba and I were both in tears as we talked about what your support has meant to them. The simple act of providing these necessities has brought them a sense of hope, safety, and dignity in the face of unimaginable hardship.
We can’t fully express how much your kindness has meant to us. Even the smallest gestures of support hold immeasurable value to those living through this crisis. On behalf of Heba, Abdullah, and myself, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
With deep gratitude, Kirsten, Heba, and Abdullah
